The first Champions League final of a new decade takes place this week in unchartered conditions. Yes, Lisbon might have hosted the showpiece twice before but not without a few genuine supporters and thousands of corporate associates, and certainly not in late-August.

These finals are often, unsurprisingly, determined by goals. Sometimes maybe good goals, sometimes maybe shit goals – as Gennaro Gattuso might say. The last decade has been no different as you can see in the videos we’ve assembled below. Goals certainly do win big shiny jugs with obscenely large handles.

We want to determine which Champions League winning goal of the last decade is ultimately the greatest – according to those who vote anyway – so we’ve decided to roll out a ‘Champions League of Champions League winning goals’ poll on Twitter. Forgive the working title (we know it’s a bit of a mouthful but we’ve decided to run with anyway!) and get involved.

Our definition of a ‘winning goal’ for this is the one which ensures victory.

Then – head to The Goal Hanger and request your favourite of these goals to be recreated as a gorgeous art print for your wall. Heck, you can even forget about these ten, request any goal you fancy (provided there’s footage of it somewhere or you’re able to describe coherently). Place you requests here.
